The chaplain recalled a January 31 voice statement that predates Zeizel's first hospital visit, but cross-examination established that her contemporaneous notes did not document it.
[SWORN TESTIMONY] Hospital chaplain Sheila Cavenaugh described visits beginning January 25 and recalled that on January 31 Lindsay Clancy said she was glad her children were safe, then described a persistent male voice commanding compliance or neither she nor the children would be safe. This is sworn recollection of an out-of-court statement, not independent proof of a hallucination. [SWORN TESTIMONY] Cross-examination established that Cavenaugh's contemporaneous notes omitted the voice account even though they contained other observations and some direct quotations; she explained that her role was to bear witness to suffering and that chaplain conversations were confidential.
